A. All library patrons and HCLS employees will be affected by the changes to be implemented beginning Monday, November 4, 2024.

A. Service hours at each local branch library will be affected and will change. But these changes will in most cases be modest. The new schedule reflects an overall reduction of 29 service hours systemwide. (Prior to November 4: 239 hours per week. New: 210 hours per week - library is open to the public.)

Patrons and members of the public should note branch closures: East Hancock (Diamondhead) closed Wednesdays; Kiln closed Saturdays; Pearlington closed Saturdays; and Waveland closed Fridays.

This new schedule includes more evening hours with branches open until 7 pm: Bay St. Louis: Tuesdays and Wednesdays; East Hancock: Tuesdays; Kiln: Thursdays; and Waveland: Thursdays.

A. All the library system’s five (5) branches are affected. Because the Bay St. Louis Library is the historical headquarters and main library branch in our system, it will not close on any of the regular business days.

Patrons should remember to use the many fantastic online programs and services available 24/7.

A. The library system will continue to offer its community meeting rooms to area organizations, groups, clubs, etc. after normal library business hours. These facilities are secure and available for approved meetings and activities in accordance with HCLS policies. A current HCLS card is required to access these benefits. Interested groups should contact their local library branch manager for details.

As stated, the HCLS intends to offer mobile library services in the future. Research and planning ar underway and these new added services will be implemented as soon as possible. The HCLS goal for mobile library services is to serve more people where they are. We expect to make certain technology services available to more rural/remote and less accessible areas within our service area.
