1. Create an Account

• You begin by creating a free Beanstack account. This can be done through our microsite or mobile app, available for iOS and Android (“search for “Hancock County Library System” on the app).

• You can set up an individual account or create an account for a child if you’re managing reading goals for them.

• Students who have an account with Hancock County School District can link to the library to participate in our challenges with the same account.

2. Track Your Reading

• After creating an account, you can start adding books you’ve read. This can be done by searching for the book title or scanning the book barcode.

• Beanstack allows you to log your reading progress by entering the number of pages read or the time spent reading.

• For children or others who may not log their own reading, parents or teachers can enter data on their behalf.

3. Participate in Reading Challenges

• HCLS hosts reading challenges like “Summer Reading Program” on Beanstack.

• These challenges motivate readers to read more by providing incentives, such as badges or rewards for completing the challenge.
