Reading Challenges
Join us on Beanstack!
Hancock County Library System uses Beanstack for reader engagement—with year-round reading challenges for all ages.
Track your reading minutes, create book reviews, and do fun activities to earn virtual tickets and badges. Enter your tickets into drawings to win prizes for special challenges!
How It Works
1. Create an Account
You begin by creating a free Beanstack account. This can be done through our microsite or mobile app, available for iOS and Android (“search for “Hancock County Library System” on the app).
You can set up an individual account or create an account for a child if you’re managing reading goals for them.
Students who have an account with Hancock County School District can link to the library to participate in our challenges with the same account.
2. Track Your Reading
After creating an account, you can start adding books you’ve read. This can be done by searching for the book title or scanning the book barcode.
Beanstack allows you to log your reading progress by entering the number of pages read or the time spent reading.
For children or others who may not log their own reading, parents or teachers can enter data on their behalf.
3. Participate in Reading Challenges
HCLS hosts reading challenges like “Summer Reading Program” on Beanstack.
These challenges motivate readers to read more by providing incentives, such as badges or rewards for completing the challenge.
